Ottawa matching Canadians' Haiti donations

Pledge of up to $50M comes as military moves to assist rescue efforts

The Government of Canada announced it would match the generosity of Canadians in response to the devastating earthquake in Haiti, up to a total of $50 million.

In order to avoid potential fraud, we urge you to check to see if your preferred charity is registered before you give and ask them if they are receiving donations in response to the January 12 Haiti earthquake. Eligible donations made in response to appeals for Haiti will be matched by the Government of Canada.
